Audio Forum 2017

December 20 – 23, 2017 | Faculty of Dramatic Arts
At Audio Forum 2017, the “one lecture per conference day” approach was pulled off for the last time. As a matter of fact, the scope of the events was too limiting up to that point – the audience consisted mostly of students, the marketing reach was small and there is not much foot traffic in the vicinity of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts.

The programming, however, was quite hefty: music production, product presentation, music business topics and a workshop. This sequence of events was leveraged to create a model for future events, which was crucial for the subsequent independence of Audio Forum.

The tradition of hosting the crème de la crème of our industry continued. In addition, the only Slate DRS specimen in Serbia was already available at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, making the workshop particularly significant and unique. It was a rare opportunity where both the participants and workshop leads jointly evaluate the market feasibility of a product so “gimmicky” that its purchase was a big risk to begin with. Hopefully Steven Slate is aware of that.

  1. Best Reggae Album for „Fly Rasta“ by Ziggy Marley,
  2. Album Of The Year for „21“ by Adele,
  3. Best Rock Album for „Stadium Arcadium“ by Red Hot Chilly Peppers.

He is equally successful in various musical genres, as evidenced by the list of albums he has participated in. Among them are albums by artists such as: Adele, Beyoncé, Black Sabbath, Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Bon Jovi, Neil Diamond, Metallica, Manu Chao, U2.

One thing about Andrew is particularly interesting – it works exclusively „in-the-box“, that is, me makes everything with a computer only and does not use any external devices. Such an approach allows him to work in parallel on several different projects and – to be on the move.

Andrew recently moved his studio from Los Angeles to Monnow Valley in the UK.

Kii Three presentation

December 21, 2017 | 17:00 – 19:00 | on-site

Mr. Srđan Krga, representative of the Kii Audio company, introduced us to the revolutionary speaker model „Three“.

With a unique, never-before-seen speaker manufacturing, the engineers of the Kii company devised the „Active way focusing“ technology, managing to, by using several differently positioned speakers inside the speaker cabinet, emit a completely coherent wave in phase and time. This makes it possible to achieve perfect speaker directivity even at the lowest frequencies.

Also, by using innovative materials for the construction of speaker cabinets and with the help of digital audio signal processing, these speakers offer a completely flat frequency response which is of utmost importance when it comes to critical listening.

George Christopoulos

Music Agent, OTICONS Productions Ltd. (Sofia, Bulgaria)

December 22, 2017 | 17:00 – 19:00 | online

Despite spending years of career as a designer and producer/organizer of artistic and corporate events, George decided to become an agent in the music industry around 2005. That’s when he got in touch with the composer Shigeru Umebayashi, to whom George was “the first European to ever reach out”. It is then that George pivoted his career as he had wanted long before. Since 2010, he has been considered one of the most energetic agents for composers, consultants and educators in Europe.

His company, Oticons, was founded to engage into exactly those activities, the so-called Talent Agency for Film Composers, which operates on the international market today. Being a European company, they are focused on working with independent filmmakers.

Over time, Oticons has represented more than thirty composers of sixteen different nationalities (of which thirteen are from Europe). They also represent orchestrators, arrangers, music editors, music supervisors for film, TV, radio, video games, online media and multimedia events.
