Audio Forum is a unique annual conference in the field of audio production in Europe, aimed at professionals, enthusiasts and students in the field of audio production.

🔥 For the first time ever, Audio Forum in Belgrade will be featuring an Academy Award winner live, on-site! Mr Tarn Willers will be joining us to talk about the experience of location sound recording for the film “The Zone of Interest“, for which he received an Academy Award in the Best Sound category. Furthermore, this will be the first Audio Forum in years to feature more live, on-site speakers than online!

Capturing Location Sound for “The Zone of Interest”
No success goes undeserved. The same goes for Tarn – the production sound mixer who, along with his colleague – Johnnie Burn, won an Academy Award in the Best Sound Category for “The Zone of Interest” in 2024. In this session, we’ll delve into what it (probably) takes to reach such high acclaim by doing extraordinary work on a film set and how to overcome what lays ahead.
The Culture of Listening
Janez is a seasoned sound designer with nearly 40 years of freelancing experience, specializing in mastering, mixing, and recording. Initially focused on FOH engineering for acts like Laibach and Tinkara Kovač, Janez is now primarily working in the studio with various renowned artists. Some may remember him as the bass player from a Slovenian synth-pop act “Videosex”.
Sound from Arenas and Sporting Venues
How skillful do you reckon you’d be on a scale from 1 to Zdravko if you spent your career in an OB truck? With over 30 years of experience and 7 Olympics under the belt, Zdravko discusses the techs and creatives of live sound production and transmission at major global sporting and music events. He also authored and co-authored two professional literature pieces.
About Theater Sound Design and Use of QLab – Hands-On
Be honest – when was the last time you saw a theater play? The live and ephemeral nature of theater makes it a highly delicate art which requires specific efforts to deliver a pervasive experience for the viewer. Sound for theater is a world of its own. It’s good see firsthand how things work out behind the scenes, using a specific toolset and approach to sound playback.
Building a Career in Technical Sound Design
Becoming an audio expert in games has proven to be quite challenging. But, it’s a whole different story once you make a decision early and steer gradually towards where you would like to be. Nikola’s career has been in rapid development since 2014, focused entirely on video games. Besides being a hard-to-find expert, Nikola also develops his own audio tools for game audio and beyond.

We all love the comfort and safety of our own venue. But what happens when you step beyond the familiar and need to project serious SPLs into open spaces? A seasoned sound technician shares her expertise on overcoming the challenges of sound production for indoor music festivals and concerts in public spaces.
Workshop – Live Sound Engineering
Ain’t much use of talking live sound engineering without engineering sound live for the audience, right? Leveraging his nearly 30 years of experience, prior education and even skills beyond sound engineering, Ivan will guide us through making music sound great, both on stage and for the audience. This is an opportunity to have a look at how a seasoned expert handles the delicate process of live sound.
Live Sound Engineering Workshop and Mini-Concert
After years of collaborating with some of Serbia’s leading artists, this Belgrade-based pianist and composer founded a new quintet in 2023. The group will join Ivan Brusić’s workshop, followed by a mini concert. As a solo artist, Sloba released an instrumental album and two albums with the jazz-rock band Gis Maj Es. The quintet has already celebrated over 20 successful performances.
Live Sound Engineering Workshop and Mini-Concert
This vocal soloist, composer, and lyricist from Belgrade will take center stage in several numbers during the Sloba Dragović Quintet workshop and concert performance. She is the author and producer of her solo album “Snaga” (2019). Throughout her illustrious career, she has graced major music events across Serbia, collaborating with the nation’s most prominent artists.
Dolby Atmos Showcase
This London-based mix tech and mixing engineer has been running the Jack Cardiff Atmos mixing stage at Molinare London based post-production, configuring and assisting various Atmos, 7×1, 5×1 multi-rig complex mixes. Most recent Re-recording mixer credits: Her Name Was Moviola, Desperate Journey, Deep Cover, 213 Bones, Layla. Most recent Senior mix tech credits: The Amateur, Paddington in Peru, Nosferatu, Nimona, Damsel, The Family Plan.

Live Sound Engineer Ivan Brusić shows us how to prep the Sloba Dragović Quintet for the concert and setup the systems for the show.
In continuation of the workshop, Ivan will demonstrate his mixing process and final checks for showtime.
It’s a good idea to say our goodbyes before we hit it with a finishing move – an awesome concert mixed just the way we wanted it during our workshop!
The Sloba Dragović Quintet will play an hour-long concert, after the Live Sound Engineering part of the workshop. They will be joined by the Belgrade singer-songwriter Ksenija Kuljača, who will perform several of her original songs with the band.

On the second day of Audio Forum Belgrade 2024, live sound engineer Ivan Brusić, coupled with the amazing Sloba Dragović Quintet featuring Ksenija Kuljača, will run a three-hour-long live sound workshop, divided in two parts – band preparation and sound check. Upon that, the quintet will play a one-hour-long concert, marking the end of the event.
