Audio Forum 2021

December 16 – 17, 2021 | Cultural center “Parobrod”
It’s not a mistake that Audio Forum 2020 is missing from the archive. The difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic are known to practically everyone. In one month, the whole world turned into one big Zoom call, but for us, such a transformation of events was simply pointless.

The essence of Audio Forum is to gather the community, which is so diverse that the expectation to have all folks present on Discord was plain unrealistic. The infrastructure of online conferences is very complex, and we did not want conversations with important guests to become an even worse “Can you hear me now?” scenario. Problems endemic to any online communication were quite enough on their own.

We decided that Audio Forum 2020 would serve as a reminder that people should look forward to direct contact the most.

Nevertheless, in 2021, we assembled enough strength and courage to, in the age of continued uncertainty, gather about a hundred people in one place. The audience’s response to the exceptional program showed that people are above aggravating circumstances.

And yes, we did – we all wore masks.

Speakers

Marko Milićević

Music Producer, Gramophonedzie (Belgrade)

December 16, 2021 | 13:30 – 14:30 | on-site

Marko Milićević is popularly known as “Marko Gramofondžija” because of his music project called “Gramophonedzie”.

The debut single „Why Don’t You“ by this producer and DJ from Belgrade in 2010 achieved significant results on the world music charts – it peaked at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart and even number 1 in the Dance category.

Particularly important are the performances during which he shared the stage with the stars of the electronic music scene, such as Junior Jack, Basement Jaxx and Bob Sinclair.

In addition to his original work, Marko has on several occasions remixed songs by well-known Serbian artists that are not originally in the domain of electronic music.

Marko is one of the first guests from Serbia with whom we discussed the music business, based on his personal experience.

Brian D’Oliveira

Versatile Sound Designer, La Hacienda Creative (Montreal, CA)

December 16, 2021 | 17:00 – 18:30 | online

He is multi-instrumentalist to such an extent that in one meeting we stated that the term “omni-instrumentalist” would fit better with his personality. In numerous videos, he can be seen wielding objects that (probably) don’t classify as musical instruments, but Brian always finds ways to make those objects sing. After all, this is the backbone of the quality of Mntra instruments and sample libraries.

At Audio Forum 2021, he focused on presenting his work on sound and music design for video games, most notably Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 7 & 8.

Srđan Mitrić

Lawyer, Mascom (Belgrade)

December 17, 2021 | 13:30 – 14:30 | on-site

Srđan is a graduate lawyer, specializing in the field of intellectual property law, specifically – copyright. The choice of career and direction occurred due to a great love for creation, primarily music, which makes him a rare example of a lawyer narrowly profiled for legal issues over what the human mind produces during its work.

He spent years in the publishing company “Mascom” as a lawyer, where in cooperation with many creators from the territory of the Republic of Serbia, he worked on the constant enrichment of the domestic music catalog.

Srđan often appears at the Audio Forum conference for a simple reason – because it’s still not in our culture to “mist” our creative process with things we don’t like, love or that we find dragging. Therefore, the audience would approach Srđan’s lectures without much expectation but soon after we’d have difficulties getting him safely out of the building from the overwhelming onslaught of high-quality questions.

Of course, Srđan does not give any actual legal advice on Audio Forum, but surely provides information of great importance to everyone who, at least once in their life, has sung a melody that came to their mind out of thin air.
